Take your own mistakes usually complicated. Especially when you’re in front of a leading company in the markets where it operates. Still, Mr. Reed Hastings, founder and CEO of Netflix, was not ashamed or shy to record a video in which assumes: did shit to announce new separate plans for DVD rentals and streaming for large network.
The news was announced a little more than two months. Before the change, the Netflix customer paid the pittance of $ 9.99 to access movies and series on unlimited streaming and always have a DVD at home, delivered by mail. Here come Hastings and changed everything: dismembered Netflix into two services – streaming for $ 7.99 and DVD rental by U $ 7.99 monthly. In total, the subscriber spends almost 6 dollars more for the same combined services. Of course, the Americans were unhappy with the change.
In his most recent public appearance through a video posted on YouTube and a post on the company’s website, Hasting back to talk about it. First of all, he asked humble apologies for having messed up the midfield in Netflix. “It is clear the answer in the last two months that members felt lack of respect and humility in the way we announced the separation of DVD and streaming, and the price changes. This certainly was not our intention, and I ask my sincere apologies.”
Okay, apology accepted. But that will not help much. Instead of restarting play on Netflix, Reed Hastings announced a new restructuring. In short, the DVD rental service is shutting down almost immediately. He died, gone.
Do not think, however, that Netflix will no longer offer the iconic service that has become synonymous. The company’s main business from is now streaming online video. This is evident in the company’s expansion to Brazil and more than forty countries of the Americas – in neither the company offers DVD. The secondary business, renting DVDs, will be managed by a new company: Qwikster.
The Qwikster born as a special division of the Group Netflix just to make the distribution and rental of DVDs of series and movies. Will respond to the CEO of Netflix, but it will be administered, it seems, independently. Thus, the commercial strategies of Netflix (the service) and Qwikster may be dissonant without users accuse of not knowing what companies are doing.
Watch below the video captained by Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix.
Consulted by me, the spokesman for Netflix announced that the company offers only streaming for Brazil. “Qwikster will work only on the market in the US.”
The Qwikster is born with a very interesting news to gamers in the United States. In addition to rent movies and series, the subscriber has the arrangement with the arrival of new service titles for consoles trendiest of the moment. In the list released by as are all major: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii.
To get better, even when only the start Qwikster also rent accessories for such consoles. Imagine taking any racing title for Wii and have the option, along with the physical media, also get the ideal controller for this sort of thing. It would be pretty cool. It is the idea to Mr. Hastings.
