At 4 weeks of pregnancy you start to notice changes in your body and you can finally confirm your suspicions with a pregnancy test.
- Your baby measures: between 1 and 0.35 mm (0.014 and 0.04 inches)
Your baby’s development
Your embryo is smaller than a grain of rice, but already its cells are assuming their position and role in the development of your baby. The outer layers will be converted into the nervous system, skin and hair; the middle layer will form their bones, muscles, circulatory system, kidneys and sexual organs; and the inner section is responsible for the digestive system and lungs.
At this stage the amniotic sac (also known as gestational sac, amnion or amniotic bag) and the yolk sac are also developed. The amniotic sac is the layer that protects your baby and contains amniotic fluid. Vitelline (yolk sac in English) is a structure attached to the embryo that provides it nutrients and oxygen in early pregnancy stage, until the placenta to come on.
The yolk sac is rolled back about the ninth week of pregnancy.
Starting this week you can take a home pregnancy test. To obtain reliable results, attempts to observe two key factors: the moment you take it and follow instructions in detail, especially in terms of taking the urine sample and the amount of time that you must read the results. These articles can help you take the pregnancy of the correct way to test for accurate results:

If your first pregnancy test gives you negative, wait a few more days and try again. Sometimes you can get a false negative because you took the test very early. If after several attempts the results are the same and still don’t have your menstrual period, consult a doctor.
Finally, remember that in each menstrual cycle you have a 20% chance of getting pregnant, then if it didn’t work this time, don’t lose faith. The majority of couples achieve a pregnancy in a year. If after this time you are still not pregnant, consult your doctor about fertility problems.
Care in pregnancy
As soon as you confirm your pregnancy, you should contact your doctor for your first prenatal appointment. I recommend that you read When you should have your first prenatal appointment? and what to expect at your first prenatal appointment so that you know a little more about the care in pregnancy and your health care during pregnancy.
In the event that you have not done so yet, make sure you set aside the alcohol during pregnancy and taking prenatal vitamins. From now on, you take care of your health, for your well-being and that of your baby.
